Europe records first coronavirus fatality as tourist dies in France

A Chinese tourist has died in France after contacting the new coronavirus - the first fatality from the disease outside Asia.

The victim was an 80-year-old woman from China's Hubei province, according to French Health Minister Agnès Buzyn.

The country’s health minister confirmed the news but it is not yet clear where in France they died.

There are now 66,492 confirmed cases across the world, including the first in Africa.

Mainland China’s death toll rose to 1,523.
