Security agents including soldiers, officers of the Department of State Services have stormed the University of Ibadan.

They stormed the University this afternoon.

Daily Post reports that the security agents are currently at the Institution due to the selection of the new Vice-Chancellor of the University.

The tenure of the incumbent Vice-Chancellor, Professor Idowu Olayinka expires on November 30th.

The new Vice-Chancellor is expected to assume duty on December 1st.

The appointment of the new Vice-Chancellor has generated a lot of controversy in the last couple of weeks.

Dailypost correspondent  however gathered that the security agents have been deployed to the Trenchard Hall, venue of the announcement of the candidate for the Senate/Selection Board for the incoming VC.

Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and Non-Academic Staff of Universities have mobilised to the venue for the announcement.
